Fortnite has confirmed that the prices of V-Bucks, the game's premium in-game currency, will be increased on March 19, 2026.

Epic Games stated that this move is necessary to "help pay the bills" as "the cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot."

V-Bucks prices have steadily increased since Fortnite launched in 2017. The most recent major price increase took place in October 2023. It affected the United States, Japan, the Eurozone countries, and a host of other nations.

This latest move is likely to upset the community further, which has repeatedly expressed its dissatisfaction with price hikes that will leave many unable to purchase the Battle Pass and cosmetics.

Players Will Now Get Less V-Bucks for the Same Price

The V-Bucks pack tiers will remain at the same price. However, the glaring change is that players will now receive fewer V-Bucks than before.

  • $8.99 Pack: 800 V-Bucks (previously 1,000 V-Bucks)
  • $22.99 Pack: 2,400 V-Bucks (previously 2,800 V-Bucks)
  • $36.99 Pack: 4,500 V-Bucks (previously 5,000 V-Bucks)
  • $89.99 Pack: 12,500 V-Bucks (previously 13,500 V-Bucks)

Players with existing V-Bucks gift cards will still be able to redeem them at their printed values even after the price increases are implemented.

In light of these changes, Epic Games will be adjusting the price of the Battle Pass and the prices of the OG, Music, and LEGO Passes.

The Battle Pass will now cost 800 V-Bucks and reward players with 800 V-Bucks for completing. Before the upcoming changes, players could purchase the Battle Pass for 1,000 V-Bucks, and they could earn 1,000 V-Bucks plus an additional 500 in the Bonus Rewards section. Meanwhile, the cost of the Battle Bundle will be lowered from 2,800 V-Bucks to 2,600.

On the other hand, the OG Pass will now cost 800 V-Bucks (previously 1,000 V-Bucks), the Music Pass will cost 1,200 V-Bucks (previously 1,400 V-Bucks), and the LEGO Pass will cost 1,200 V-Bucks (previously 1,400 V-Bucks).

Epic Games also confirmed that the V-Bucks grant from Fortnite Crew will be lowered from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800. Subscribers will receive an email with details about when the change will take effect in their region.

The immediate community response to these changes has been largely critical. Players have argued that the explanation for the price increases may be misleading, claiming that some publicly available estimates suggest Fortnite’s server costs have not increased significantly since 2018.
