Where Winds Meet 2.0 debuts this month with a brand new Eastern Steampunk-themed region and much more!
NetEase Games' hit open-world action RPG, Where Winds Meet, is getting a brand new “Eastern Steampunk" themed region, “Hidden Mountain," marking the dawn of version 2.0, via a massive free update, releasing on Thursday, July 23.
Among the many new additions and changes, key ones include the Hidden Mountains, a brand-new region with a multi-dimensional vertical map, and an upgrade in the game’s audio-visual quality.
Along with the introduction of a mysterious Mohist Sect, a brand-new storyline, unique weapon classes, formidable bosses, and revolutionary gameplay that heavily features mechanical contraptions.
An “Eastern Steampunk” Playground: The Hidden Mountain Region
The Hidden Mountain is a sprawling, multi-dimensional “Eastern Steampunk” playground, featuring distinct areas - spanning underwater depths, underground palaces, towering peaks, and floating sky cities.
This unique aesthetic is rooted in the lore of the mountain’s hidden Mohist sect. As legendary masters of ingenious engineering from ancient times, they have transformed the entire mountain into a giant epic mechanism, packed with hundreds of intricate mechanical devices.
Freedom of Movement
You can utilize Lightness Skill, climbing, gliding, and all-new mechanical vehicles to navigate the massive elevation changes. Every cliff, subterranean cave, and hidden enclave behind a roaring waterfall is fully explorable.
Build Your Own Path
The expansion introduces DIY mechanical crafting and custom vehicle assembly gameplay. You can stitch together complex components to build your own mechanical contraptions and custom vehicles to solve puzzles and forge new pathways.
The Dawn of Where Winds Meet 2.0: A Sensory and Visual Leap
To maximize player immersion, the Hidden Mountain expansion is bringing major visual and auditory enhancements to the game.
Optimized wind dynamics create layered acoustics as gales sweep through mountain canyons, while overhauled rock textures vividly depict the natural traces of wind, water, and time.
Finally, a brand-new light rendering and ray-tracing system realistically simulates the mountain’s complex, delicate lighting, drawing you deeper into the world.
New Sect, Weapons, and Combat
The update also adds a new Sect, a ton of weapons, new bosses, and much more:
New Mohist Hill Sect
Hidden deep within the sea of clouds, this new sect is tailor-made for those who love crafting and construction. As the game’s first building-specialized sect, its disciples receive unique, unparalleled buffs to their architectural and mechanical crafting abilities.
New Gauntlet Discipline
Experience the brutal, “fist-to-flesh” kinetic energy of martial monk brawling. The new Gauntlet Discipline allows you to engage in ultra-close-quarters combat, execute lightning-fast combos, and deliver devastating, instant-burst damage to shatter enemy defenses.
A New Caliber of Bosses
Face off against unique new bosses, featuring mechanical and clockwork horrors; some require you to solve environmental mechanism puzzles mid-combat, while others test your skills with relentless strikes or venomous blades.
