GRIS

15. GRIS

GRIS is a personal favorite for us, as this platform-adventure game feels like you're playing through a moving watercolor painting. It delivers a gripping story — almost entirely without dialogue — and showcases great platforming and environmental exploration. Each area introduces new colors and mechanics that make the world slowly feel more alive as the journey continues. It's a calm but unforgettable adventure that relies heavily on atmosphere and visual storytelling.

Journey

14. Journey

Though only available on iOS at the moment, Journey is an indie game that remains one of the most unique adventure experiences created. You, a mysterious figure, travel across deserts and ancient ruins toward a distant mountain while occasionally meeting silent strangers online who can join in on your adventure. The game does a great job of conveying emotion entirely through visuals, music, and movement rather than dialogue alone.

The Walking Dead

13. The Walking Dead

Telltale's The Walking Dead combines survival, storytelling, and insanely difficult choices into one gripping episodic adventure series. The relationship between Lee and Clementine gives the game its emotional core, while the constant threat of zombies and humans alike keeps the tension high. Every decision you make feels meaningful, and it can result in story-changing outcomes, such as a person living or dying. The Walking Dead is an instant classic for us.

Machinarium

12. Machinarium

Machinarium tells a charming robot adventure with no dialogue at all. Through the point-and-click mechanic, you explore a beautifully hand-drawn mechanical city while solving creative puzzles and helping quirky characters along the way. The world feels imaginative, and the storyline can get quite emotional. As a whole, it's a rather basic game, but this simplicity has helped it become quite timeless.

Prince of Persia Lost Crown

11. Prince of Persia: Lost Crown

Prince of Persia: Lost Crown delivers a fast-paced action-adventure game that's filled with platforming and stylish combat. As a part of Ubisoft's expansive Prince of Persia franchise, a lot of the game's elements may feel familiar to seasoned players. You play as Sargon, a member of The Immortals clan, who goes on a journey to the city of Mount Qaf to rescue the kidnapped Prince Ghassan. There are hidden pathways and challenging encounters along the way. The movement feels pretty smooth, too, and its side-scrolling structure is done quite well.

Dredge

10. Dredge

Dredge mixes fishing, exploration, and horror into one fascinating adventure. During the day, you sail between islands collecting fish and upgrading your boat, but nighttime transforms the ocean into something far more dangerous and unsettling. The slow uncovering of mysteries keeps the story engaging from beginning to end. It's easily one of the most underrated narrative games on mobile, and that's down to its unique atmosphere.

Forgotton Anne

9. Forgotton Anne

Forgotton Anne is an adventure-platform game that features beautiful hand-animated art. It genuinely feels like you're playing through an interactive Studio Ghibli game. It combines platforming, puzzles, and dialogue choices that are all set in a fantasy world where forgotten objects come to life. The detailed environments and incredible voice acting make the game feel incredibly immersive.

To the Moon

8. To the Moon

To the Moon is a 2011 adventure game that focuses almost entirely on storytelling, but the moving journey makes it unforgettable. The game follows doctors who travel through a dying man's memories to fulfill his final wish, which gradually uncovers a heartbreaking story. Exploration and puzzles are simple, but the writing carries the entire experience. It's a game that can really leave you emotional at the end of the story.

Subnautica

7. Subnautica

Subnautica is an adventure-survival game that places underwater exploration at the center of its gameplay — which it does unbelievably well. It's also filled with mystery and wonder, as you explore new areas both on land and in the water. Diving deeper into the ocean slowly reveals terrifying creatures, hidden caves, and secrets about the planet you're stranded on. The combination of crafting and storytelling does a phenomenal job of capturing the feeling of exploring an unknown world.

Where Winds Meet

6. Where Winds Meet

Where Winds Meet is a martial arts combat adventure game that's set in a huge open world inspired by ancient Chinese history and wuxia stories. It focuses heavily on exploration and allows players to wander through beautiful landscapes, discover hidden encounters, and shape their own journey through the world. On top of that, its cinematic combat and detailed environments give it a large-scale feeling that's unlike any other.

Oxenfree

5. Oxenfree

Oxenfree blends supernatural horror with an engaging coming-of-age adventure. The story follows Alex and his stepbrother Jonas as things turn for the worse after attending a party on an old military island. The natural dialogue system makes conversations feel realistic, while the eerie island setting creates constant tension and mystery. As strange radio signals begin affecting reality itself, the story and atmosphere become increasingly unsettling in the best possible way.

Very Little Nightmares

4. Very Little Nightmares

Very Little Nightmares delivers creepy puzzle adventure gameplay that's complete with a tense atmosphere. You guide a small character through dangerous environments filled with traps, monstrous enemies, and other dangerous obstacles. The art style looks cute at first, but the game quickly becomes unsettling in ways that keep you constantly alert. It's a great mobile spin-off that carries a lot of the elements that made the original Little Nightmares game so engrossing.

Life is Strange

3. Life Is Strange

Life Is Strange is the sort of emotional, choice-driven adventure game that you can sink hours into. You play as Max, a student who discovers she can rewind time, and the game constantly forces you to make difficult decisions that affect relationships and story outcomes. The mystery surrounding the town keeps the plot engaging, but the characters are what really make the experience memorable. To us, it's definitely one of the strongest narrative adventures available on mobile.

Red Dead Redemption

2. Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption is an iconic open-world adventure game where you ride across deserts, hunt for wildlife, stumble into random encounters, and dive into an immersive storyline. John Marston’s journey remains one of the strongest stories in gaming, and the game balances action, exploration, and touching character moments perfectly. Even on mobile, Red Dead Redemption still captures the feeling of going on a true western adventure.

Death Stranding

1. Death Stranding

Death Stranding is an action-adventure game that incorporates travel as one of its core elements. The open world is, in all sincerity, grand and immense. You'll feel the scale as you, a porter known as Sam, cross dangerous landscapes while carefully managing your cargo. The tension in the storyline picks up when strange supernatural threats begin appearing along the way. The game's lonely atmosphere and unique worldbuilding make every journey feel meaningful instead of repetitive. Overall, the approach is definitely unconventional, but few adventure games feel as memorable as this one.
