Supercell has revealed that Clash of Clans almost launched under names like Project Magic and even Tough Nuggets.

Supercell dropped a surprising piece of history about Clash of Clans, one of the most successful mobile games of all time, shortly after it celebrated the game's 13th anniversary.
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the Finland-based studio revealed that before Clash of Clans' official launch, the game went through several potential names, including Brute Force, Project Magic, and Tough Nuggets.
Eventually, Supercell settled on Clash of Clans. The studio explained that while many names were considered, it was Clash of Clans that ultimately clicked with both the team and players.
Tough Nuggets might sound tasty, but it was once a real contender for Clash of Clans' name, along with Project Magic, Brute Force, and many more. In the end, Clash of Clans was the one that clicked, and it even hinted at the clan-vs-clan battles that arrived two years later. pic.twitter.com/cVRn2xAdVe

Alongside the post, Supercell released early concept art with the title 'Project Magic.' It depicted the Barbarians in a rough sketch before they became the iconic characters players know today.
Interestingly, Supercell also noted that even during these early stages of the game's development, the concept art intentionally hinted at the clan-vs-clan battles — a feature that didn't officially arrive until two years after the game’s launch.
Since its 2012 release, Clash of Clans has become one of the most popular mobile strategy games. Its unique gameplay experience has spawned a global community and influenced countless titles in the genre. Most recently, it was announced that Netflix would be bringing Supercell's CLASH universe to life in an animated series.
