The cult-classic real-time strategy franchise, Age of Empires, will soon make its debut on the mobile platform with the launch of 'Age of Empires Mobile'.
What started as a relatively simple RTS title with the launch of the first Age of Empires game back in 1997, has since blossomed into a rather spectacular franchise with games dedicated to historical accuracy. The franchise has expanded into various mainline games, spin-offs, and expansions. Now, the franchise is heading branching out into the mobile platform with the launch of 'Age of Empires Mobile'.
Developed by TiMi Studios and World’s Edge, this game promises to capture the franchise's essence with streamlined controls and features tailored specifically for mobile gameplay.
As far as gameplay goes, it remains similar to the mainline titles. Players can select from one of history's iconic figures, collect resources, expand upon their civilizations, train a diverse set of units, and engage in strategic battles against other players.
Age of Empires Mobile Release Schedule
The developers have confirmed that Age of Empires Mobile will be released globally as a free downloadable game on October 17, 2024. They did not provide an exact time.
What is most likely to take place – as is the case with the release of other major mobile games – is that Age of Empires Mobile will have a staggered launch that occurs in phases. This means that the game will be released at various times, depending on the region, throughout October 17.
This approach to the release schedule is common practice as it allows the developers to monitor and regulate the game's servers. Should the game launch at the same time throughout the world, the servers may end up overloading. This will ultimately result in the servers crashing and players being unable to enter the game.
We recommend pre-registering through the App Store, Google Play Store, or through the game's official website if you want to be among the first to play Age of Empires Mobile.
