Overwatch is coming to a mobile phone near you.
Blizzard has officially announced Overwatch Rush, a brand-new top-down Hero shooter exclusive to mobile, set in the Overwatch universe.
The announcement outlines Blizzard’s early vision for the game, which is optimized for mobile and designed to expand the franchise to a new platform and audience.
While the project is still in its early stages of development, the announcement provides players with their first real glimpse of what Blizzard aims to achieve with this new experience.
A Mobile-First Overwatch Experience
According to Blizzard, Overwatch Rush is "an entirely new game" and not a mobile port of Overwatch itself. Instead, it’s an entirely new title built from the ground up by a dedicated team at Blizzard — a team that is completely separate from the team currently working on Overwatch.
The game is described as a free-to-play, top-down, team-based action experience that reimagines the fast-paced combat of Overwatch in a format better suited for touch controls and the mobile experience.

Early gameplay footage suggests that familiar heroes, such as Mercy and Tracer, from the main series will appear in the game, bringing their recognizable abilities and playstyles into this new platform.
Early Development and Testing Plans
Blizzard made it clear that Overwatch Rush is still in its early stages. Preparations for the initial tests are underway, with the game expected to be tested in select countries and regions. Players can join Overwatch Rush's official Discord server to receive updates about the game.
During these early tests, players will encounter a smaller selection of heroes, maps, and modes. Blizzard plans to expand the game over time based on player feedback and continued development.
It is believed the project may have a long testing period ahead, with a potential full release not expected until later in the decade as development continues to evolve. At the moment, Blizzard has not confirmed a launch date for Overwatch Rush.
Although much about the project remains under wraps, Blizzard has signaled that more updates will arrive as development progresses and testing expands. For now, Overwatch Rush represents an early but intriguing step toward the franchise’s presence on mobile.
