Clash Royale Tests New Battle Rewards, But Players Remain Skeptical

Supercell has begun experimenting with different rewards players can earn from battles in Clash Royale.

If you're seeing a different set of Battle Rewards in Clash Royale, you'll be glad to know that nothing is wrong with the game. Supercell is simply testing out various sets of rewards, and this has resulted in players witnessing varying setups.

Since August 26, all players have been evenly split into five groups, each of which has a unique collection and quantity of rewards. The items can include Lucky Drops, Gold, and Chests.

The range of rewards is surprisingly interesting. Take a look at Group 1 — it has four Lucky Drops and additional Gold as its rewards. Meanwhile, Group 5 has four Chests, instead of Lucky Drops, and additional Gold.

Some groups, specifically Group 1 and Group 4, have the same batch of items, but they're different. Supercell clarified this, explaining that 'the UI / UX is different - after all the Lucky Drops have been claimed, it will show 4 checkboxes instead of Gold / Crown icons.'

So, why is Supercell so openly testing this in Clash Royale? They state that all of this is being done so they can 'learn which rewards feel the most fun and exciting to earn' and use the feedback the community provides to determine the future of Battle Rewards.

It's unclear when the test will end.

How Has The Community Responded To The Battle Rewards Test?

As usual, the discourse surrounding these tests is divided, as evident in the comment section of the test's announcement. Several players have a clear idea of which Group they want for Battle Rewards. Others want Chests instead of Lucky Drops, and many more would rather have more Lucky Drops instead.

There are also concerns from the community about how this will shape the progression system in Clash Royale, specifically for those who are free-to-play players. Depending on the Group chosen for Battle Rewards, it may require players to grind more matches to earn Gold or to purchase items to have a chance of getting their hands on decent rewards.

Either way, the jury is definitely out on this test. We'll see in due time how Supercell responds to this feedback and, eventually, how they decide to proceed with Battle Rewards and Clash Royale as a whole.
