It's been two weeks since Capcom's newest masterpiece, which turned out to be a massive commercial success, Resident Evil Requiem, was released.

A week after its February 27 global launch, Capcom shared an official tracker website where players can log in to check their stats, the global stats, along with a few other things.

SPOILER ALERT

Resident Evil 9 Final Choice

And while we were looking at some of the data, we found one of the most embarrassing ones, which is that two weeks into the game's launch, and 57% of the players chose the bad ending where Leon dies.

As you may already know, Resident Evil Requiem presents players with two choices at the end of the game: use the correct password to release Elpis or a wrong one to destroy Elpis.

The canon ending is releasing Elpis, while the latter is the bad ending, which many players don't understand why Capcom put it there. And no, I chose to release Elpis because I paid attention to what Alyssa and Spencer said.

That said, as you play through Resident Evil Requiem, you are told that Elpis is this bad new virus, the ultimate product of Oswell E. Spencer, that The Connections wanted to get their hands on.

But there are subtle hints that say otherwise. With the biggest one being Alyssa Ashcroft's drive, which she hid in the Wrenwood Hotel, which you later find in the main surveillance room within The ARK.

It included several clips of an undocumented interview of Alyssa Ashcroft with Oswell E. Spencer, revealing some of the biggest secrets of the game, like how Elpis was Spencer's redemption, the last good thing, along with his adopted daughter, Grace Ashcroft.

But then again, as you reach the final point in the game, Leon requests that Grace stop Elpis even if he doesn't make it. And keeping their promise to Leon, most players destroyed Elpis at the end, leading to that 57% stat.

The choice was so messed up that even Capcom knew players would not be so happy about it, so they added a retry option at the end of credits so that players could get the good ending in case they didn't have any manual saves or such.

Which ending did you choose in your first playthrough? Let us know in the comments.
