PUBG Mobile is getting a new, lighter version designed to make the popular battle royale more accessible to players with less powerful mobile devices.
Tencent has announced PUBG Mobile Light, a streamlined way to play the original PUBG Mobile experience on both Android and iOS, which is set to launch later in 2026.
Unlike the previous PUBG Mobile Lite, the new PUBG Mobile Light game is being positioned as a lighter version of the main game rather than a separate, stripped-down experience. According to details revealed alongside the announcement, the Android version is expected to take up around 1GB, while the iOS version will be approximately 2GB.

The reduced system requirements should make PUBG Mobile more accessible to players using older or lower-end smartphones.
PUBG Mobile Producer Rick Li stated, "PUBG Mobile Light is not about making a smaller game with a smaller experience. It's about maintaining the high-quality PUBG Mobile standard, while giving players a lighter and more accessible way to play."
A Lighter PUBG Mobile Version With Less System Demands
Li confirmed that there is no extra mandatory download package that players have to install before their first match. This means that, after PUBG Mobile Light is downloaded on your device, players can immediately jump into a match.
The lighter version of the battle royale title has also been designed to offer players more flexibility with how the game consumes their device's storage. It's essentially a modular approach where players can pick and choose extra modules (such as downloading Livik or Rondo) they wish to download.
Play With Friends on the Standard Version
One of the more notable aspects of PUBG Mobile Light is its connection to the existing PUBG Mobile ecosystem. Players using the LIGHT version will be able to play with friends who are using the standard PUBG Mobile app. This means players won't necessarily need to switch to the same version as their friends to squad up.
The two versions will also receive updates alongside one another. This would allow LIGHT players to access new content while remaining connected to the wider PUBG Mobile community. Existing PUBG Mobile cosmetics will also be transferable to the Light version, according to the information currently available.
As mentioned earlier, PUBG Mobile Light is currently scheduled to launch sometime in 2026, although an exact release date has not yet been announced. Pre-registration will open on August 25 through Google Play and the App Store.
More details about the game's device requirements, launch date, and availability are expected to be revealed as PUBG Mobile Light gets closer to release.
