It's the end of the road for one of Supercell's newest mobile games, Squad Busters.
Developed by Supercell, Squad Busters is a multiplayer PvP mobile game that was launched worldwide in May 2024.
At that moment in time, it marked a turning point for the Finnish developers, as before this, a slew of their upcoming games, such as Everdale and Clash Mini, were abruptly cancelled. So, to have a game that finally met Supercell's high-quality standards was, quite frankly, a welcome surprise.
A year after its initial release, it genuinely looked like Squad Busters was here to stay. But, as the saying goes, nothing lasts forever. And, on October 30th, Supercell announced the end of development for Squad Busters.
Squad Busters is ending development in December 2025.

In Squad Busters, players would build a team of their most powerful characters and dive into monster-filled battles against other players. One of the more unique aspects of the game was that it featured characters and lore from Supercell's vast catalog of titles, such as Brawl Stars and Clash of Clans.
Supercell 'Got It Wrong' With Squad Busters
The Finland-based developers tend to be quite upfront and honest with their shortcomings, especially with the development of their own games, and this was no different when talking about the end of Squad Busters.
They admitted that they wanted to move fast, instead of taking years to fully launch a game, and take risks. Unfortunately, that was where they believed they got it wrong.
The game did not meet the high expectations that both you, our players, and we at Supercell have for our games, and by early 2025, we faced a true crossroads: either accept that Squad Busters might never grow into the kind of global phenomenon we dreamed of, or take a big creative swing. We chose the latter.
A few changes were introduced to switch up the game, such as introducing Heroes, but the core problem remained. Supercell added, 'We believe it [ending Squad Busters' development] is the right decision to stay true to Supercell’s goal of creating games that players can love for years.'
From a community perspective, this news is somewhat bittersweet. Many players enjoyed the gameplay and how it combined the best elements of Supercell's expansive universe, while keeping things unique and enjoyable. So, to see Squad Busters go away is disappointing. But it's hard to ignore the various gameplay hurdles that inevitably led to many players losing interest.
What Happens After Development Ends for Squad Busters?
While the development of Squad Busters is coming to an end, it doesn't necessarily mean the game will be immediately shut down or removed from app stores. Supercell confirmed that Squad Busters will only shut down sometime after the first half of 2026.
One final update will be released in December, as outlined in its latest content roadmap. It will introduce the 8-Bit Event, the Jolly Holiday event for Christmas, and the Musketeer Squaddie.
Following this, in 2026, regular events will continue as usual. This includes seasonal events such as Bounties, Piñatas, Tara’s Event, and Weekend Events. You will still be able to unlock Currencies, Squaddies, Heroes, Skins, and other items by opening Lucky Boxes.
Additionally, in-app purchases have been disabled since October 30th. Those who made a purchase in Squad Busters during 2025 can request a transfer of their value to another Supercell game. The transfer window opens on November 10th, ends at the end of 2025, and can be completed through Player Support.
