With 2024 ending, the curtains are drawing on yet another year of massive mobile esports action in the Snapdragon Pro Series. The world’s largest multi-genre mobile esports competition, organized by ESL FACEIT Group (EFG), had humble beginnings in 2022 when it sought to introduce a “new era of everyone.”

Two years later, it has become a powerhouse in the mobile esports space, hosting tournaments for popular titles including Brawl Stars, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Call of Duty: Mobile, EA SPORTS FC™ Mobile, and many more. The ecosystem’s global events continue to expand into new regions and introduce new opportunities for casual players to turn pro.

Sam Braithwaite, Vice President, Game Ecosystems Mobile at EFG, reflected on the competition’s rise:

The Snapdragon Pro Series started as an independent tournament series and quickly became the official, publisher-partnered ecosystem for some of the largest games in the world. 2024 continued to shatter records for the Snapdragon Pro Series with player participation and hours watched growing tremendously.

Various contests were held throughout 2024, each of which saw both established and up-and-coming names climb through the ranks to reach the top stage of their game’s competitive field.

The year began with the Snapdragon Mobile Masters – the pinnacle event of the Snapdragon Pro Series’ annual competition cycle – in Brazil where two titles were on the line for the first time: Call of Duty: Mobile and Free Fire. Here, the best teams in the world went head-to-head in a blockbuster contest for the title and 200,000 USD in prize pool money per game.

Michael Kiefer, Global Senior Product Manager at EFG, recalled the turnout and EFG’s efforts to allow everyone to tune into the event:

With 3,200 attendees over three days, we had packed the location with an electric mood which saw the Chinese Call of Duty: Mobile team, Qing Jiu Club, win and Reverse Red win the Free Fire competition. It was also great to collaborate with the public schools to provide the opportunity for their students to experience the event.

One of the year’s standout events was the Asia-Pacific Snapdragon Mobile Challenge Finals in MLBB as it had cemented itself as one of the most-watched and most-attended Snapdragon Pro Series events of all time.

Som Nuchapa Trivijitsilp, Senior Product Manager, Mobile at EFG, commented on this milestone:

The Snapdragon Pro Series Challenge Finals event in Kuala Lumpur had over 60,000 foot traffic for a 3-day event on August 2-4, 2024. We also recorded over 880,000 peak concurrent viewerships and generated over 11 million hours watched.

Another milestone to note in the MLBB space is the Snapdragon Pro Series launching an all-new MLBB women’s league in Southeast Asia this year. On this, Som added:

The first-ever women’s tournament for the Snapdragon Pro Series was held in May 2024 where more than 50 teams were participating and aiming to secure their slot to the EWC.

Seasons 5 and 6 of the Snapdragon Pro Series, which ran consecutively throughout the year, featured the largest prize pool in the competition’s history with nearly USD $4.4 million in total prize pool money offered.

2024 was also a year of new partnerships in the Snapdragon Pro Series. Earlier in the year, EFG announced groundbreaking collaborations with developers like MOONTON Games and Supercell. These partnerships not only strengthened their existing relationships but also expanded opportunities for players in games such as Brawl Stars and MLBB.

These partnerships resulted in engaging online tournaments as well as in-person LAN events. For example, the Last Chance Qualifier for this year’s annual Brawl Stars Championship held at gamescom in Cologne saw a remarkable turnout of players and viewers at the Koelnmesse.

Nicolas Linant, Senior Product Manager, Mobile at EFG described the occasion’s successes:

The Snapdragon Pro Series Mobile Event Arena, held on August 24–25 in Cologne, showcased remarkable growth and impressive results, underscoring the strength of our strategic partnership with Supercell via Brawl Stars. The event drew hundreds of thousands of attendees at the venue and generated 1,167,621 hours of content watched.

Later in the year, EFG welcomed EA SPORTS FC™ Mobile as the first sports title in its roster of offerings.

This collaboration is one of the efforts in the ecosystem’s expanded Year 3 roadmap, including launching the inaugural EA SPORTS FC™ Mobile season in Latin America and further integrating the Snapdragon Pro Series in Call of Duty: Mobile’s global esports circuit.

Heading into 2025, EFG is focused on bringing more marquee international esports events to the world of mobile gamers. They plan on building upon the ecosystem’s record-setting momentum in 2024 with a lineup of competitions for their roster of titles.

It was announced the coming year will see the Snapdragon Mobile Challenge Finals for MLBB return to Malaysia for the Season 6 Finale in February. Proceeding this, in April, the crowning moment of the annual MLBB cycle, the Snapdragon Pro Series Mobile Masters, will be hosted in Southeast Asia to close out Year 3 of the Snapdragon Pro Series.
