Apple is now manufacturing a vast majority of the US-bound iPhone 17 models in India, instead of China.

All new iPhone 17 models, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and Pro Max, for the US market, are now manufactured in India as Apple doubles down on reducing its reliance on China for US-bound iPhones.
According to a report from Bloomberg and our sources in India, the iPhone 17 models are currently being manufactured in five different Indian factories handled by the Indian multinational group of companies, the Tata Group, and Taiwan's Foxconn.
This doesn't come as a surprise, as in Q2 2025, the iPhone production in India saw a massive rise by 63% accounting for $7.5 billion in exports.
While China will still be the main manufacturer for iPhones made for the global market, for the US market, India is taking the lead.
This is a part of Apple's strategic shift from China, as earlier this year, Tim Cook said that Apple plans to move nearly all of its iPhone assembly for the US market to India to avoid tariffs and such things.
That said, most of the US-bound iPhone 17 models will be manufactured in India's Tata Group's facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and Foxconn's facility near Bangalore airport, both of which recently went live and are ready for manufacturing.
