15 Dead Mobile Games That Deserve a Comeback

1-15

These games need a second chance...

Mobius Final Fantasy

15. Mobius Final Fantasy

Mobius Final Fantasy stood out for its console-quality visuals and rather mature storytelling approach compared to other mobile RPGs at the time. It felt like a full-fledged Final Fantasy game rather than a spin-off, which made it all the more appealing. Its shutdown in 2020 left a noticeable gap, and, to this day, it's clear that fans would absolutely welcome a new version with modern live-service support.

Tales of Luminaria

14. Tales of Luminaria

Tales of Luminaria tried something bold with the story focusing on multiple protagonists. While that ambition was admirable, it made the experience feel fragmented for some players. Still, the combat and world had a lot of potential for something greater. That said, a more focused reboot could really make the game shine.

Apex Legends Mobile

13. Apex Legends Mobile

Apex Legends Mobile really had all the ingredients to dominate on mobile. It had smooth gunplay, polished visuals, and that signature hero-based battle royale chaos that made the mainline game so successful. But the game was shut down in 2023 just as it was finding its footing, with the developers citing "factors beyond our control". It stood out for its mobile-first features like exclusive Legends and streamlined controls that felt smooth on a touchscreen. With battle royales still going strong in the mobile gaming scene, it feels like this one just needed more time and better long-term support to really pop off.

Flappy Bird

12. Flappy Bird

It's almost impossible to talk about dead games without bringing up everyone's favorite, Flappy Bird. The brutally simple yet endlessly frustrating tap-to-fly game that took over the world before vanishing overnight is one that deserves some sort of return. Its viral success proved that mobile didn't need flashy graphics or deep mechanics to hook players. All a good game needs is solid gameplay. A modern comeback with leaderboards, skins, or even multiplayer races could easily be some good additions to the regular experience.

Tekken Mobile

11. Tekken Mobile

Tekken Mobile brought the iconic fighting franchise to phones with a simplified yet satisfying combat system. While it lacked the depth of popular console versions, it was still a solid entry point for a lot of casual players. It had a short lifespan, having been released in early 2018 before having its servers closed in 2019. That said, a modern version with improved controls, online features, and better visuals could tap into both nostalgia and the competitive community.

Dungeon Keeper Mobile

10. Dungeon Keeper Mobile

This reboot of Dungeon Keeper had strong strategy MMO gameplay, but was heavily criticized for its aggressive monetization that often distracted players from its supposed "freemium" concept. Beneath that, there was a genuinely fun base-building strategy experience just waiting to shine. If it were to come back today with a fairer monetization model, it could completely change how players perceive it.

Dragalia Lost

9. Dragalia Lost

Nintendo's Dragalia Lost was an action RPG that had everything going for it. It had charming characters, fluid action combat, and a nice progression system that kept things entertaining. Despite having a loyal fanbase, it was shut down in 2022 after facing a lack of interest in the game. A sequel or reboot could easily capture both returning fans and newcomers looking for a polished RPG experience.

Mass Effect Infiltrator

8. Mass Effect: Infiltrator

Mass Effect: Infiltrator was a surprisingly solid third-person shooter that expanded the lore of the main series while offering some pretty engaging gameplay. It has been offline for a while now (the game was originally released in 2012), with there being complaints about compatibility issues and janky controls. Still, with Mass Effect being a beloved franchise and it being some time since it was launched, reviving this game with an improved experience could certainly attract both old fans and newcomers.

Pokémon Duel

7. Pokémon Duel

In our opinion, Pokémon Duel took the franchise in a bold direction with a board game-style strategy game using collectible action figures. It wasn't your typical Pokémon experience, which truly made it both niche and refreshing. When it was around, it was criticized for its poor optimization and pay-to-win mechanics. If these are resolved correctly, we think it should be brought back simply because of its unique concept and the massive popularity surrounding Pokémon at the moment.

Terra Battle

6. Terra Battle

Terra Battle featured a unique grid-based combat system and a distinct art style that really set itself apart from other RPGs on mobile. On top of that, it was produced by Final Fantasy veteran Hironobu Sakaguchi and had music from Nobuo Uematsu, who was also a part of the popular series. It built a passionate community, but, sadly, the game was discontinued in 2020. A revival of this extremely unique game could stand out in today's crowded RPG market.

Infinity Blade

5. Infinity Blade

Infinity Blade wasn't just any action RPG — it was a showcase of what mobile hardware could do at the time of its release in 2010. Its swipe-based combat, stunning visuals, and epic boss fights made it a standout entry in the mobile gaming scene. Despite its popularity, it was eventually delisted from app stores due to difficulties with supporting the aging game. Fans have been asking for its return for a minute now, and we couldn't agree more.

Nier Reincarnation

4. Nier Reincarnation

Nier Reincarnation stood out as one of the most atmospheric mobile RPGs to have been available on mobile. It leaned heavily into immersive storytelling and impressive visuals that the series is known for. Despite its unique identity and strong narrative elements, it struggled to maintain long-term engagement and was shut down in 2024. Its gacha system was also scrutinized. A comeback — especially one that refines its gameplay while preserving its eerie charm — would certainly be welcome.

Warzone Mobile

3. Warzone Mobile

Warzone Mobile struggled heavily with its performance and optimization, which ultimately led many players to drop the game. The battle royale shooter was eventually shut down in early 2026, after declining engagement and the game not meeting the developer's expectations. It was a shame because Warzone Mobile genuinely had an expansive gun roster and authentic recreations of classic maps. Maybe with better optimization and clearer progression systems, a refreshed version of the game could easily pull back players who wanted a true, large-scale Call of Duty experience on mobile.

Dead by Daylight Mobile

2. Dead by Daylight Mobile

Dead by Daylight Mobile managed to bring the chaotic fun of the horror multiplayer experience to phones. It lets players either survive together or hunt them down as one of the mainline game's iconic killers. It translated the core experience well, as it was complete with familiar maps and characters. However, "ongoing shifts in NetEase Games' development and operational strategies" forced the game to be shut down in 2025. With cross-play, better optimization, and stronger live support, it could absolutely thrive again in the current mobile multiplayer scene.

Dead Space Mobile

1. Dead Space Mobile

Dead Space Mobile (otherwise known as Dead Space: Sabotage) was surprisingly faithful to the original console experience. It delivered the same classic atmospheric horror, solid storytelling, and tense combat on a small screen. The game was given incredibly positive critical reviews, and even players loved it. It eventually disappeared around 2016 due to EA reportedly not wanting to maintain or update the aging game with newer software. With that in mind, bringing this back (or remastering it) right now would be a no-brainer.
