Clash of Clans Has Brought Global Chat Back — And It's Better Than Before

Global Chat is back in Clash of Clans — yes, you've read that right.

Following years of appeals from the community, Supercell has finally restored one of Clash of Clans' most requested features: Global Chat. The communication feature was originally intended to enable players from all around the world to communicate with one another in real time.

Global Chat was removed from Clash of Clans during the October update in 2019, as a result of the Supercell team being unable to moderate spam, combat bad actors, and adequately address child safety concerns.

The feature has made its grand return to the mobile strategy game in the June 2026 update, with Supercell confirming it is "better and safer" after having been "rebuilt from the ground up". Players can access it through the new "Social" tab, which also houses the Clan Chat.

Global Chat Is Upgraded with More Chatting Options

There are now three different levels of Global Chat: Groups, Communities, and Town Square.

Groups are the lowest level of Global Chat. They are player-created servers meant to serve small groups of players, with the member cap set at 800 people. The servers' status can be set to Public, Invite-only, or Private.

A step higher are Communities. These are public-only player-created groups that can support up to 50,000 members. Additionally, the message history is only limited to the past 12 hours. Groups with over 600 members can be converted into Communities.

The highest level is the Town Square. These are less for personal or private communication between friends, and more as a stage for big-game announcements, such as new changes or updates. It is, as Supercell describes it, a "front page" where every player is added. However, only Ambassadors (Creators, Community Managers, and Special Guests) can send messages. Non-ambassadors can only provide emoji reactions.

More Safety Features for Global Chat

As mentioned earlier, one of the biggest reasons for Global Chat's removal seven years ago was Supercell's inability to adequately moderate the system. With that in mind, the reintroduction of this feature is not without important safety measures.

This includes the ability for players to report messages, an anti-spam system, and restrictions against link sharing. The Family Friendly filtering option will be permanently active in Communities.

Supercell stressed it will look to improve Global Chat in the future, with community feedback serving as an important driver behind potential additions.
