Say goodbye to 2025 and welcome 2026 in Pokémon GO's week-long New Year's event. Featuring unique Pokémon like Hoothoot wearing a New Year's outfit, it'll be one you won't want to miss out on.
Taking place between December 31st and January 4th, the New Year's 2026 event will have special bonuses. This includes 2x XP from Raid Battles, 2x Stardust from Raid Battles, and an increased chance to encounter a Shiny Pikachu wearing a party top hat in Raids and in the wild.

Overview of Pokémon GO's New Year’s 2026 Event
We'll start by diving into all the Pokémon you can find in Wild Encounters, One-Star Raids, and Three-Star Raids during the New Year’s 2026 event. These Pokémon will be adorning event-exclusive cosmetics, such as party hats and New Year's outfits. As always, there's always a chance you'll find a Shiny version of the respective Pokémon.

There will be event-themed Field Research Tasks available, which you can complete to earn Stardust. Additionally, you will receive one bonus daily Field Research Task each day that you can finish to receive either one Lucky Egg or one Incense.
The number of guaranteed Lucky Pokémon a Trainer can receive from a trade has been increased from 35 to 45. If you've traded a Pokémon that's been in your collection since 2020, there's a guaranteed chance it will become a Lucky Pokémon. This change is permanent and will still be in place after this event ends.
A Paid Timed Research, costing US$1.99 (or equivalent in local currency), will be available. It will grant you one additional Raid Pass per day from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms, two Premium Battle Passes, 3,000 Stardust, encounters with Pikachu wearing a party top hat, and other bonuses.
New Avatar Item & Store Items
Blacephalon Boots will be available at the in-game shop during the New Year’s 2026 event. It will also be present in the store after the event ends.
On top of this, the New Year’s 2026 Ultra Ticket Box will be available for US$1.99 (or equivalent in local currency). It includes an event ticket and one Lucky Egg.
As a reminder, the New Year’s 2026 event will run from December 31, 2025, at 10:00 through January 4, 2026, at 20:00.
