That's right—Rockstar Games is bringing Red Dead Redemption to mobile for the first time ever.
The iconic Western epic, Red Dead Redemption, will soon become playable on iOS and Android devices. Launching on December 2, 2025, the game arrives on mobile through Netflix Games, where only Netflix subscribers can download and play the game at no extra cost.
Red Dead Redemption follows the story of gunslinger John Marston, set in 1911 across fictionalized locations in the American Southwest and Mexico, and his quest to get back his family after they were kidnapped by evildoers.

We Got Red Dead Redemption On Mobile Before GTA VI
Since its release in 2010, Rockstar Games' Western-themed, action-adventure game has achieved cult status thanks to its many revolutionary features. Its extremely expansive open world, breathtaking visuals, engaging combat sequences, and Dead Eye targeting system are just some of the highlights you'll come to experience as you play through the storyline.
Early previews of the mobile port are promising, and it seems Rockstar is keeping the controls and mechanics as authentic to the original game as possible.

The mobile release of Red Dead Redemption through Netflix will also include the Undead Nightmare expansion. This standalone pack explores an alternative timeline where a zombie plague sweeps across the Western Frontier. John has to get to the bottom of the plague, as well as find a cure, after his family was bitten by a zombie.
You can expect a sizeable installation file for Red Dead Redemption—around 3GB on iOS devices according to the App Store—and performance tuned for modern mobile devices. The game also has software and hardware demands that can only be found in higher-end and some mid-tier mobile devices.
As the game is being distributed through the Netflix app, it’s also free of ads and in-app purchases.
A New Era for Mobile Ports?
This mobile port comes as part of a larger wave of Red Dead Redemption releases across several modern consoles, such as the Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
However, its arrival on mobile is arguably the most surprising. Bringing one of Rockstar’s most celebrated adventures to phones suggests the gaming industry's growing push toward high-end, premium gaming on handheld devices. For fans who’ve wanted to revisit the frontier or for players experiencing Marston’s journey for the first time, this is shaping up to be one of the biggest mobile launches of 2025.
You can pre-register for Red Dead Redemption on mobile through the Google Play Store or App Store. As a reminder, a Netflix membership is required to play the game.
