A new job posting from Ubisoft Montreal, the creators of Assassin's Creed Shadows, Rainbow Six Siege, Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell, and other hit titles from Ubisoft's vast IP collection, suggests the team is working on a new IP described as a "large-scale multiplayer," "set in an intense science-fiction universe," offering "competitive gameplay."

This new IP is reportedly being developed in Unreal Engine 5 with full cross-platform support, with a mobile version under consideration.

Here's a look at the job description:

As a Senior Gameplay Programmer at Ubi MTL, you will be a driving force behind the design, implementation, and optimization of ambitious gameplay systems for a brand-new, large-scale multiplayer game. Set in an intense science-fiction universe with competitive gameplay, you will contribute to a complete cross-platform experience, spanning mobile to HD. You’ll join a close-knit team of seasoned industry veterans, where creativity and data-driven decisions guide every step of development.

As per leaks from X user named 6leaks, this new IP from Ubisoft Montreal is called Project Scout and is a large-scale battle royale game with a sci-fi setting.

Back in March 2025, Tencent, the Chinese multinational technology conglomerate, bought a 20% stake ($1.25 billion) in Ubisoft, giving rise to a new subsidiary that, as per Ubisoft, “focuses on building game ecosystems designed to become truly evergreen and multi-platform.”

From the looks of it, the Project Scout seems to be the first of many new IPs that are being developed with the new vision.
