Baobab Studios has acquired exclusive film and television rights to a slate of popular Roblox games, including Barry’s Prison Run, Deepwoken, and Natural Disaster Survival, according to Deadline.

The Emmy-winning animation studio, known for its boundary-pushing efforts in animation and VR storytelling, will work in tandem with the games' original creators to expand them beyond the Roblox platform.

CEO and Co-Founder of Baobab Studios, Maureen Fan, said:

We’re not just looking at scale—we’re looking at what sustains. Having built our own Roblox games, we sought titles that combine reach with retention, deepen engagement, and clear world-building that can carry powerfully into film and television.

Chief Creative Officer and Co-Founder Eric Darnell further commented:

Roblox is one of the most powerful platforms for entertainment, with games reaching audiences at a scale that rivals traditional media. These games have fans who are genuinely invested in these worlds, and that level of engagement is the foundation we’ll build on to welcome new audiences while preserving the passion that already exists.

The creators of the three Roblox games have expressed their belief in Baobab Studios, as well as their shared vision and passion for the upcoming projects.

Barry’s Prison Run creator, PlatinumFalls, admitted that they "always envisioned Barry’s Prison Run as more than a game, with a story and character that unfold more deeply over time." They believe that Baobab can unlock the "game’s storytelling potential."

"We’re thrilled for our fans to see its stories told in a wholly new medium," said the team behind Deepwoken.

Stickmasterluke, the creator of the nearly 20-year-old Natural Disaster Survival title, said, "I fully trust them to authentically develop exciting new content for both the fans and new audiences."

No details have been shared about the narrative direction or timeline of these projects.
