2XKO, formerly known as Project L, is an upcoming combat game from the minds of Riot Games that was first revealed in 2019. For the developers and many League of Legends players, this game is the next, evolutionary step in the massive catalog of titles based on the expansive LoL universe.

2XKO follows a 2v2 team-based fighting format with tag-team elements that allow you and a friend to duke it out against another team of two. It will feature a unique art style and controls that Riot describes as "easy to learn but hard to master."

While 2XKO is set to be released as a free-to-play title on PC, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X/S, there is another platform that Riot's games have often found themselves launched on: mobile. We'll dive into all the details we know so far about this game's release on handheld devices.

At the moment, Riot has not disclosed any plans to release 2XKO on mobile. It appears they will be sticking the game's launch to only on PC and mainstream consoles. Riot previously stated their intentions to have their games as optimized and polished as possible. Unfortunately, this leaves little room for Android and iOS devices and only for current and future console generations.

Fears about the game's availability on mobile have risen after Riot announced layoffs in early 2024 that saw the global team reduced by 11%. The elimination of about 530 roles could jeopardize 2XKO's release on handheld devices.

Don't lose hope though, Riot has a history of developing popular games for the small screen such as Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra, and Teamfight Tactics.

Other titles in the same combat genre such as Mortal Kombat Mobile and Injustice 2 possess similar gameplay elements, so it is entirely possible that 2XKO could be replicated on mobile. If the game is released on mobile, you can expect 2XKO to be a free-to-play game just as it will be on other platforms.

2XKO has no official release date at the time of writing. Many speculate its potential rollout will be in the Summer of 2025. Riot has begun ramping up open playtests recently, with the first alpha test launched in August in select regions.
