Supercell has announced a major overhaul of the current Ranked mode format in Brawl Stars. We'll break down and explain each and every change you can expect to see in the next update.

Brace yourselves because Brawl Stars will be deploying a massive rework to its Ranked mode. The mode was first added to the game in early 2024 to replace the rather defunct Power League. At the time, the objective of Ranked was to create a competitive ladder, filled with various Ranks and sub-Ranks, that players could progress through to make it to the top of the leaderboards.
To that end, Supercell was largely successful. But, if you've been playing Brawl Stars for some time now, you'll know that the developers never settle for anything less than perfect, as showcased by reworks to the Brawl pass and Trophy Season.
But, that said, the developers will change the way Ranked mode works when an update is released on February 25, 2025. The aim of these changes is to make Ranked more competitive for the more skillful players, reward players with better items, and to ultimately engage keep players engaged with new content and formats.
- A new Rank known as "Pro" will be added above Masters.
- Ranked Modifiers will be permanently removed to reduce confusion amongst casual players.
- A Ranked progression system known as the "Pro Pass" will be introduced. It's a reward track with a format similar to the Brawl Pass.
- A new Skin Rarity known as "Pro" will be exclusively available in Ranked. This Skin can be upgraded up to 11 times to improve the Skin and earn other cosmetics.
- Rewards in the Ranked Starr Drops will be adjusted to include the Skin Upgrade item (which can be used to upgrade Pro Skins).
Changes Will Be Made to Make Ranked More Competitive
The first big change will be the arrival of a new Rank above Masters known as "Pro." It will unlock a new esports button that, when pressed, will allow players to compete in Brawl Stars esports events. The exact specifics of how this works have yet to be revealed.

With the Pro Rank, the Masters Rank will now have three tiers (I, II, and III), requiring 1,000 Elo each to progress through. Also, Legendary Rank will now take 750 Elo to progress through each tier.
On the topic of Elo, Supercell will be "tackling Elo inflation from multiple angles." This includes removing the Floor Protection for players in Mythic Rank and up and reducing the Rank Boost values by a significant margin. Elo gain will be increased but Elo loss will be more consequential for those in Legendary Rank and higher.
Modifiers were deemed to be too complicated for casual players to understand so, from the Ranked rework onwards, they will be removed from Brawl Stars.
Besides all this, Gadgets can be used an unlimited number of times but it has a cooldown that's tied to how strong they are. The matchmaking process will also be streamlined to be more efficient and more restrictive in terms of matching you with players similar to your current Rank.
Pro Pass Will Be Added as a New Ranked Progression System
Ranked mode will now have a dedicated reward track known as the "Pro Pass." Similar to the regular Brawl Pass, the Pro Pass will have a free track and a paid track. Both of these will have a series of tiers you will need to progress through to collect rewards.
However, unlike the Brawl Pass, the Pro Pass will be four months long. The major reason why the Pro Pass will run for such a long time is because Supercell would like to tie it with major esports events in the year such as the annual Brawl Stars World Championship. Altogether, there will be three Pro Passes per year.

To progress through the Pro Pass, you will need to collect Pro Pass XP. These can be earned from winning Ranked matches, ranking up, and watching/interacting with official Brawl Stars esports broadcasts. You can also earn instant progression and double Pro Pass XP when you purchase the premium Pro Pass.
Besides this, you can get a Legendary-level Skin in the Free track of the Pro Pass.
New "Pro" Skin Rarity to Be Introduced

Another novel addition to Brawl Stars comes in the form of a "Pro" Skin Rarity. These Pro skins can be upgraded up to 11 times by collecting the Skin Upgrade items scattered across the Pro Pass or from Ranked Drops eight months after the skin's release. Upgrading a Pro skin will grant it visual improvements (such as a new Spawn VFX) or other cosmetics (such as an Animated Brawler Battle Card).
The list of upgrades for a Pro skin is as follows:
Upgrade number | Rewards |
1 | Base Pro Skin |
2 | 1 Pin, 1 Profile Picture, and 1 Spray |
3 | Special attack effects for Pro Skin |
4 | Upgrade Skin Model |
5 | 8 Pins |
6 | Special takedown effects for Pro Skin |
7 | Animated Brawler Card |
8 | Special Spawn and Respawn effects for Pro Skin |
9 | Hypercharge Form of Pro Skin |
10 | Chroma version 1 of Pro Skin |
11 | Chroma version 2 of Pro Skin |
It has been revealed that the first Pro Skin will be for Colt.
Changes to Ranked Starr Drops Are Incoming
As briefly mentioned earlier, Skin Upgrade items for Pro Skins will be available in Ranked Starr Drops after the rework is launched. So, a few changes have to be made to accommodate their arrival. This mostly has to do with the items you can get.
That said, all previous Ranked Skins available in Ranked Drops will remain. However, you will now be able to get new items such as Skin Upgrade items, Pro Pass XP, and other exclusive Ranked cosmetics.
Other Minor Changes in the Upcoming Ranked Rework
There are a handful of other small changes that, though they are not the most impactful, are still worth being in the loop about.

To start, Ranked will be getting a slight visual improvement in terms of how cosmetics appear. Battle Cards will no longer decay and, instead, will be permanently collected. New Ranked Tier visuals for all Ranks and Battle Card visuals can be collected. Additionally, you will be able to customize which Battle Card you display in your profile.
Supercell will be experimenting with a variety of new game modes in Ranked. They will first be tested in Trophies mode. If they're deemed to be competitive enough, they will be added to Ranked. If not, they'll be adjusted. It's been revealed that the first new mode will be called "Cleaning Duty", a game mode similar to Jelly Catch but simply reskinned.
Finally, three fully maxed-out Brawlers will be available for use only in Ranked for the duration of each season. This list is rotated each season.
