Supercell has revealed the contents of the October update for Clash Royale—and it's a big one. From two awesome new Card Evolutions to a reworked Champion cycle, there are a bunch of new additions that will influence how you build your deck and how you strategize in matches.

Besides changes to the gameplay aspect, there are also changes to the rewards system. Lucky Drops will be removed and, taking their place, are a new set of boxes known as Lucky Chests. They aim to provide "guaranteed rewards" and a more diverse set of items to players.

With all that said, let's dive into everything you need to know about the new update that was launched on September 29, 2025.

Royal Ghost and Skeleton Army Get Card Evolutions

Two cards will finally receive a Card Evolution form in the October update: The Royal Ghost and Skeleton Army.

The Royal Ghost Evolution will summon two Souldiers whenever it attacks from invisibility. These troops will deal initial area-of-effect damage when they spawn and will proceed to guard the Royal Ghost.

On the other hand, the Skeleton Army Evolution will be commanded by General Gerry. He will make the Skeletons both invisible and invincible while he's alive. However, once General Gerry is defeated, all Skeletons will become vulnerable to damage.

The last time two Card Evolutions were introduced in a single Clash Royale season was in September 2024, when the Mega Knight and P.E.K.K.A. received an Evolution form.

Lucky Chests Will Replace Lucky Drops

Lucky Chests are a new type of random-reward boxes, which will be replacing Lucky Drops after the update.

There are three types of Lucky Chests: Common, Magic, and Seasonal. Each is different from the others based on the rewards they contain.

Common Lucky Chests contain Cards and Gold. Magic Lucky Chests can reward Cards, Gold, Magic Items, and cosmetics. Finally, Seasonal Lucky Chests contain rewards based on the season's theme, and can include items such as Cards, Evolution Shards, and cosmetics.

Champion Cycle Receives A Game-Changing Rework

Champions will be dropping their 3-card cycle, and will begin cycling just like normal Cards. Supercell states this is meant "to shift the balance away from fast cycling and more towards the Champions themselves."

With this rework, only the most recently placed Champion will possess an ability. A crown icon will appear above this Champion. Additionally, ability cooldowns will reset whenever a new Champion spawns in the Arena. This mechanic will reset the Skeleton King's soul bar whenever another Skeleton King is placed on the battlefield. However, other Champion abilities remain the same.

On top of all this, the Mirror Spell will work on Champions after the update. All decks will still only permit one Champion inclusion.
