In Clash Royale, Tower Troops are cards that you can equip to your deck to customize how your Princess Towers deal damage during battles.
First outlined in the game's development roadmap for 2024, Tower Troops adds a new dimension to how matches are played out. With these troops, you will be able to counter specific cards and whichever decks are currently popular in the meta. However, they also come with their own drawbacks. But that's not what we'll be focusing on today.

How to Unlock Tower Troops in Clash Royale
You can unlock Tower Troops in Clash Royale by reaching certain Arenas on the Trophy Road. You won't instantly receive them. Instead, you'll need to open Lucky Drops for a chance of unlocking them, or purchase them with Coins, Gold, or money when they are available at the in-game Shop.
There are currently four Tower Troops in the game: The Cannoneer, Dagger Duchess, Royal Chef, and the Tower Princess. Each of these can be unlocked when you reach a specific Arena. Here's how it works:
- Arena 8 (2,300 Trophies): Cannoneer
- Arena 11 (3,400 Trophies): Dagger Duchess
- Arena 13 (4,200 Trophies): Royal Chef
The Tower Princess is a default Tower Troop that you will automatically unlock regardless of your current Arena level on the Trophy Road.
How to Add A Tower Troop to Your Deck in Clash Royale
To add any Tower Troop to your deck, follow the steps explained below:
- First, launch Clash Royale on your preferred device.
- After this, press the 'Collection' tab at the bottom of the Main Menu.
- Tap the 'Decks' tab from the list of options at the top of the screen.
- Select the deck you want to edit.
- Then, scroll down to the Tower section for that deck.
- Tap the Tower Troop you currently have equipped for the deck.
- Select the Tower Troop you want to add.
- Finally, press the 'Use' button to add them to your deck.
And that's it! Your deck is all set with the new Tower Troop equipped.
How to Upgrade Tower Troops in Clash Royale
You can upgrade Tower Troops to their Elite Level (which, at the moment, is Level 15) using a variety of different resources, depending on the current level of the Tower Troop.
Here's how you can upgrade your Tower Troops:
- Level 2 – 14: Upgrading requires Gold and duplicate cards
- Level 14 – Elite Level: Upgrading requires Elite Wild Cards
Something important to keep in mind is that the level of your Tower Troop cards is capped to your current Tower Power. This means that even if you have upgraded your Tower Troops to a level past your current Tower Power, it will be reduced to meet the level cap.
