Hero Boxes offer you a chance of unlocking a random Hero in Clash Royale.
Introduced in the November update, Hero Boxes are items that reward you with a random number of items depending on their rarity — similar to Lucky Chests.
They were added to Clash Royale as a way for players to get their hands on much-needed Hero Fragments, which are the resource needed for players to unlock the new Troop type known as Heroes.
Heroes are essentially powerful versions of the regular Cards in Clash Royale, but they, like Champions, have a unique ability that can be activated during battle. They're no doubt strong additions to any deck, which is why obtaining Heroes and, conversely, Hero Boxes, is important.
How to Get Hero Boxes in Clash Royale
Players can get Hero Boxes by participating in limited-time events and by progressing through the seasonal Pass Royale.
One way requires some level of grinding and luck, while the other way is more passive, as you'll simply need to earn Crowns to climb through the many tiers of the Pass Royale.
How Many Hero Fragments Can You Get in Hero Boxes?
Similar to Lucky Chests, Hero Boxes come in various rarities. The higher the rarity, the better the rewards. Hero Boxes are available in five different rarities, ranging from 1-Star to 5-Star. You can upgrade the level of your Hero Boxes by reaching higher-level Arenas. As we mentioned earlier, Hero Boxes contain Hero Fragments.
Here's a look at how many Hero Fragments you can receive from Hero Boxes:
| Hero Box Level | 2-Star | 3-Star | 4-Star | 5-Star |
| 1 | 2 | 4 | 16 | 200 |
| 2 | 3 | 6 | 24 | 200 |
| 3 | 4 | 8 | 32 | 200 |
| 4 | 5 | 10 | 40 | 200 |
Once you've collected 200 Hero Fragments, you'll receive a random Hero. Bear in mind that this may mean receiving a Hero you have already unlocked. If that were to happen, the Hero would then be converted into a large amount of Cards of the same type and 60 Hero Fragments.
