Resident Evil 4 Remake Merchant is under massive debt thanks to players. Here's the full story.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is now three years old, as the game celebrated its third anniversary on Tuesday, March 24, with a unique stat from Capcom confirming that the Merchant, whom we missed so much in Resident Evil Requiem, is currently under 3.37 trillion ptas in Debt.
Remember that official Resident Evil Portal website? Yes. The one we talked about in a different piece, which discusses how 57% of Resident Evil Requiem players got Leon killed by choosing the bad ending, also offers stats for Resident Evil 4 Remake and other titles.
The official X (formerly Twitter) handle for Resident Evil Portal shared three key stats:
- Money paid to the Merchant: 39,914,290,699,099 ptas
- Money received from the Merchant: 43,251,570,618,389 ptas
- The Merchant's Coffers: -3,337,279,919,290 ptas
It's the 3rd anniversary of the Resident Evil 4 remake!

The Merchant, who was there for players and always welcomed them with 'What're You Buying?', despite being in ever-increasing Debt, has no one to help him.
Now, those "AI took the Merchant's job" memes seem true. What do you think? How can we help get him out of Debt? Is it only by buying, not selling, items, or is there another way? Let us know in the comments.
